For 25-cents more, you made the dish a LOT better.ģ) Seriously re-think the spanish rice. Add some sliced radish, a few pieces of chopped mango and some pine nuts, drizzle with a lemon dressing and it's a salad. Do something different.Ģ) The Crab Cakes would be better if you did something different with the spinach 'garnish'. Every #&%$#! restaurant in Baton Rouge serves the same French Fries. My suggestions for Lucy's restaurant - not that they might care, but offered just in case.ġ) either ditch the standard fries OR do something a bit different with them, like sprinkling them with a lime-sea salt coating or a jalapeno-salt coating instead of regular salt. a whole plateful of them (under the crab cakes) is the start of a good salad. He said, 'well, I guess you can eat them, but they're just a garnish'. We asked the waiter if they had a salad dressing for the spinach leaves. His crab cakes came on a big bed of spinach. The spanish rice was too moist and just didn't taste very good to him. He said the crab cakes were OK, but not the best he's had. I should have had the sweet potato fries instead.Īnother person I came with had the Crab Cakes and a side order of Spanish Rice. The fries it came with are nothing special. The flavor was good, not the best burger I've ever had but still pretty good. I ordered the Juicy Lucy with grilled pineapple and black forest ham added, with blue cheese crumbles. I ate there for dinner on a Wednesday night, so the place was only half full. Waitresses are friendly and pretty quick about service. The surfboards, wall posters, music and lighting are relaxed and laid back style. The point is, just go to Faegen's.Hawaii meets Baja Mexico & California Surf – The menu is interesting, great relaxed atmosphere and the food is pretty good. One less connection to SU students today, I guess. I have no emotional connection to Lucy's but there's something about watching another bar from my era go by the wayside that strikes a sad chord. The Orange was apparently the name of the bar in that spot between 19, though this updated version will be ACC-themed, or something. The bar will be closed until a grand opening, which is tentatively set for the first home football game on Sept. Faigle said he promises the same staff, quick service, reasonable specials and a lot of new additions. Faigle, who has owned Lucy’s for 18 years. The bar, tentatively renamed The Orange, will have the same staff and owner, R.C.

At least more so than a surfer-themed bar in Syracuse, NY. It's being replaced by a sports bar, which, I suppose, makes a modicum of sense. I still don't know if he was being a dick or if he was so drunk he forgot that he had literally just done a shot.Īnyway, Lucy's is going away.

He then looked over, saw the worm, said "awesome," took the shot to get a closer look, and then downed the shot. As we were about to drink, I noticed the worm was in my shot. One of my friends bought two shots of tequila for he and I to do together. I was there with a bunch of friends one night. All this so I could drink crappy booze out of a fishbowl.Ģ. I basically had to convince him I was 21, which, if you've ever seen me, you understand was not an easy thing to do. He said it looked way too glossy, or something. I showed the bouncer my ID and.he rejected it. It was the first Syracuse bar I went to after turning 21. But I do have two memories of the place.ġ. I can probably count the amount of times I went into Lucy's while at Syracuse on both hands.
